All you need is a 4 port switch. Plug the ethernet cable from the modem into the switch and the ethernet cable from each computer into a port on the switch, and voila' you are both connected. If you want to network the two computers, you need to turn on sharing, etc.....but this is the easiest way. (If you are currently connecting to the modem with a USB cable, you'll need to change that and use the ethernet connection). Good Luck

Sorry, but as soon as you connect your PC to a broadband, you are effectively networking.

If you use a USB unit for your broaband I don't think a USB splitter would work; but I've never tried!

Most PC's come fitted with a network card now, and if not they are quite cheap to fit. A 4-port router can alo be aquired fairly cheaply so then you can plug your 2 Pc's into that for Broadband. You'll need a modem-router if your current broadband box is only USB and you connect via your normal 'phone line. If you connect via cable, your cable co should be able to supply you with a unit that will connect to a hub or router. If you've got a bit of spare cash you could go for a wireless option, but you'd still be networked!

Yes, though usually the broadband modems only have one ethernet cable input, you'll have to get a four port router or whatever, cable the router to the modem, and your computers to the router.

If want to later, you can network them

You can do it, but it will severely slow down one of the pc's and cost you for the software. One pc will have to act as a proxy for the other, and both will be able to access the Internet, but the proxy pc will be very slow. And it's still networking.

I do not recommend this approach. Bite the bullet and buy a router; Linnksys is highly recommended. And easy to set up.

First off what brand of modem are you using? I am running three computers off of my twin antenna Linksys which came with two antennas that tie into my base computer. If you are not using a Linksys then I recommend Tigerdirect.com where you may purchase one for $59.00 in comparison to Office Max that wants $156.00 for the identical model.

I think you have to have a wireless network at the very least if you are trying not to hardwire it. I don't think your inquiry is possible.
