i have a canon i950 and for some reason when i request it to print a colored image it comes out either with the colors in the incorrect places or with out enough ink in some places (or no ink at all) and yes i have recently put new ink cartridges in the printer and the issue is still persisting so what could be the problem and how can i fix it

I agree with the other readers that your print heads are clogged. This commonly happens when an inkjet printer is not used for a long time, or when a printer with color capability is only used for black and white printing for a long period.

Cleaning your print heads is a fairly simple process, and can be done with a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol. Simply wet the Q-Tip and use it in a circular motion on the shiny foil surface of the print heads. You'll see the ink buildup on the foil, just wipe it away, and when you reinstall the print heads, your first couple of pages may appear faded until any remaining alcohol is squirted out of the jets.

Another option is to use store-bought alcohol pads, as one reader suggested. These work fine, but tend to be a mess and stain your hands, as you have no stick to hold onto. Also, I've found that they often have some lint or broken fibers on them which can be left behind on the print heads and cause ink to gob up on them and streak the first few pages that you print. Either way, though, a simple cleaning will fix your problem.

Looks .like you might need the print heads cleaned. There is usually an option for that. Look up your printer in your printer properties and see if is a choice for that.

Also, try the canon site, maybe you can do it manually or see if your drivers need updating

Without knowing how old the printer is, it appears that you have clogged jets. You can try to clean then by removing the cartridges and using an alcohol pad on the jets. Be careful not to touch them with your fingers.
