I don't know what's wrong with it. Me and my husband went out and got it a new power-supply, because it wouldn't come on when we hit the power button. But after installing the new power supply, it still won't come on. It's also making a clicking sound - like it's wanting to power up, but instantly dies. Could it possibly be the mother-board?

Ok, I'm pretty this is why that is happening.
Every computer has a fan to not let it overheat, and it automatically shuts down before it does.
Whereever there are hole on your computer, where the fan may possibly be, make sure there is no dust over it, it can stop the air from circulating, this happened to my computer too

Since there is no power i.e. no fans spinning then you might have a short somewhere, such as a screw touching the motherboard or something like that.

Another potential cause could be that your CPU is overheating and the bios is shutting the machine down to protect it. Make sure the CPU fan is firmly in place, make sure it is spinning when you try to turn on the pc (it may be bad and not spinning at all).

If you don't have any luck with either of those then you might want to have a tech look at it. Good luck!

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and I'm having the same problem. I assumed the baterry was dead when it happened the first time because I was away from any plug-in power source. but it's doing the same thing right now even though it's plugged in. It lights up for a split second and sshuts right back off. Don't know what's up. Let me know when you get an answer!

If it clicks when you try to turn it on then my guess is that it's an EMachines and the orginal powersupply killed itself and your motherboard. You'll want to get a new computer.

Possibly. My 1st laptop began doing that shortly before it gave out.
