I am in college, and I have a MS Word 2003 product key that is used on all the computers in this network. I even used a product key on a lab computer, and it has this same product key. Yet when I try to use it on the computer in my dorm it will not work; I just get a message that says the product key is not valid. So does anyone know why it might say that? Could I be getting that message due to the product key being used on other computers in the network? Because I know it is valid, so I don't know why it is not working on the dorm computer.

We were having the same problem here. It may not be that the product key is completely invalid that it may have expired. I would call the customer service number that you have with your product key and ask them to reinstate the product key or send you a new one that you can use. They didn't reinstate ours but gave us a new product key to use. I hope this helps...

It's probably a certain type of Licence Key that only works on certain machines or so many times. As for acquiring a new key, you'll have to either find a keygen (not condoned, illegal, and not always good), or talk to someone there about it, or as Blue October said purchase a new copy with a valid key which is your best bet.

the key is most likely registered to only certain computers on the school network....computers that can and are monitored for illegal usage (ie tune downloads etc). The dorm computer is not within this monitored network and therefore your key is not going to work.

the solution is to purchase a new key, or purchase the program from microsoft....or use the in-network computers only

good luck :)

Why is it asking you to sign up it now? (after four years?) The decal at the again of your laptop is a registration for Windows (I'm guessing). Not Office. The workplace registration might be on a few CD you acquired workplace with.
