This is from Dave Barry: "Republicans hate the news media. They're up front about this. They basically come right out and say: 'We're prosperous and religious and patriotic and clean-cut, and you media people are communist atheistic dope addicts wearing clothes that look like they came from a store called the Fashion Dumpster.' I find this attitude refreshing. I'm always happier around Republicans, who are honestly hostile, than around Democrats, who really want the media to like them and who get all pouty when we note that they have the managerial competence of oatmeal."

I love the quote. It bashes both sides while remaining truthy. Another great zinger from Dave Barry. XD

LOL, that's lightened up for you? Okay, lets talk political fashion. Republicans, Black socks don't go with everything- short pants being an example. While it's unnecessary to sag your pants like a cholo, they should still be worn around your waist, not your nipples. That alone may relieve some of your other "discomforts" as well. Wearing a belt with suspenders is unnecessarily redundant. In fact, losing the suspenders may also help you out with the aforementioned Pants Issue. Lastly, the Hawaiian shirt is not the only "casual" piece of clothing you'll ever need. Loud and Tacky isn't always the answer. Thanks for your time.

Hippies: Patchoulie is not the answer to personal hygiene- I don't care what Moonflower told you, she was high. While Birkenstocks can be exceedingly comfortable, don't overlook the comfort of warm toes. If it's snowing, it's not a betrayal of your values to wear shoes. Finally, Tie Die should be worn sparingly- see the comments to Republicans above about Hawaiian shirts. :P

Here's a quote for you...

'And that's the way it is(n't)'

"You are from a large city in America. You haven't attended church in years and claim no particular religious affiliation.

You don't believe in God but you do hold lots of other beliefs - such as a woman's "right" to an abortion, and homosexuality is okay, and gays should be allowed to teach in public schools, and capitalism is dangerous and evil.

You voted Democratic in every presidential election since 1960, including McGovern in 1972. A registered Democrat, you campaigned with Gary Hart, and Mondale-Ferraro and you worked in the White House when Jimmy Carter was president.

Your heroes are Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem and Ted Kennedy.

You rank Castro and Daniel Ortega above Ronald Reagan and Jerry Falwell.

You favor nuclear disarmament, affirmative action, hiring homosexuals, government redistribution of wealth and gun laws.

You oppose school prayer, capital punishment, defense spending and aid to anti-communist forces.

You are a self-described "liberal," rabidly anti-Christian and pathetically out of touch with the mainstream.

Yet oddly enough, that mainstream looks to YOU each day for information!

Who are you? You are a reporter!!!"

Leave it to Dave Barry. I was raised in a family that was so Democratic, I can remember getting names off headstones to vote for our candidate. Then I married and both my husband and I decided the Republican party suited us. After the divorce I went back to being a Democrat. I've never noticed all of the things said in the comment, but maybe I'm too close to the picture. Now that I read back over what I wrote I know why I'm so mixed up. That's what being independent is for.

It is a good quote but when one is too hostile one makes more enemies than friends and ends up being betrayed. However, I will not defend the Media, they blow too much out of proportion and tell young children that it is fine for them to be sluty and makes them feel guilty about their figures at age 5. Nor will I defend either party, they all lie to us and take bribes. None of them are honest. They just tell us what we want to hear so that way we will elect them.
I'll bet you did not know that the very last amendment to the Constitution says that Congress must make a MINIMUM pay but NO MAXIMUM.

We're all just people, who want the best for our country and our society. Some of us disagree on various issues as to what is the best resolution, but it is not because any of us are horrible people. It is simply because we do not all think the same.

LOL, Dave Barry should trade his Pulitzer in for a Nobel! That guy is seriously one of the funniest men in America. Quick quiz: guess what political party (or ideology) he claims best represents him?

The Libertarians!

Come on, Nadine. There's no need to make insulting remarks about oatmeal. I like oatmeal.

Lightening up might include a politician's dinner plans or family vacation get-away gossip....

I wouldn't consider this quote "light"...
