Many don't. The other day, I claimed that it was correct for Iran to add the CIA to their terrorism list (which they did). A bunch of people complained and Yahoo removed my post due to "violation of community principles". When I complained, the same bunch told me it was ok for Yahoo to remove my post because it was utterly stupid to compare the Bush administration to Bin Laden.
So what is freedom of expression. It is simply the right of a person to express an opinion NO MATTER how stupid it might sound to a bunch of people. Freedom of expression has NOTHING to do with the quality of an opinion. Further, what you might think of as stupid may not be so to other people.
To many Americans, freedom of expression means you tell them what they want to hear. Everything else is conspiracy.
By the way, did you google Operation Northwoods?.

"Mabe Yahoo has certain guidelines and rules that we must follow!"
my post isnt about Yahoo but those who complained. If i complained to yahoo they may have put the post back, but i didnt. Yahoo automatically deletes posts after complaints, there is no human intervention but a computer program. And my posts did NOT violate the guidelines because i did read them. and yes Bush is much bigger than bin laden, u want proof?

"do you imagine what would happen if everyone comes with their own thoughts? , wouldn't it be a complete disaster?"
why would it be a disaster if someone confesses their opinion on a message board? it is just an opinion and that is why discussion is all about. You read that opinion and you have to agree or dsagree. thats the key to a debate: disagree or agree. yes, of course, discussion should be mature and respectful. but comparing bush to bin laden doesnt violate any of those. dont you think that bush killed innocent people????

I agree with your ideas of freedom of expression and speech. I may not LIKE what the others have to say, but I have a choice to either listen to it or ignore it.
I agree also that many people are too quick to call everything a "Conspiracy"...it has gotten to the point that they are calling well documented science facts conspiracies...they don't even know what they are talking about!
No, I didn't google Operation Northwoods, but I am going to.

It is stupid to compare Bush to Bin Laden! Yes you have the right to say what you want! Mabe Yahoo has certain guidelines and rules that we must follow! They own this blog so therefore, the also have the right to choose what is right and what is wrong. I think they are pretty fair if you want my opinion! There where some things that I posted that I didn't know was against the rules and they removed them. I said ok! They have the right to do that! If you did not have the freedom of speech or expression, you would be arrested by law enforcement! A Whole different story altogether!

In all honesty Americans haven't ever been open minded by being white anted and Shepard by religious beliefs and 1950 fashioned morals. You'll discover this when you travel the world or live in another country outside the US. I discovered this when I returned to the US and couldn't believe the Children of The Corn conditioning and the narrow minded I'm right your wrong way of thinking when they didn't even know where Australia was on a world map where I live. I felt like I taken by my TV and ended up in Pleasantville. The world has become smaller since the introduction of the internet, people are becoming more open minded and are beginning to ask questions outside the white anted 1950 morally imbreaded way of thinking. Some questions posted can be offensive to some people or a great debatable subject and answer to a new way of learning to be more open mided to many others.

As much as I don't agree with you, you had every right to say it. It's the bottom line. But Yahoo is a private company with it's own policies. Whether you like it or not, they have every right to remove your post if they feel it's not necessary. It doesn't make it right, but that's just the way business works. It just goes back to that saying that your opinion is ok as long as the other person agrees with it.
*Your question is worded in a way that leads us to believe that you're complianing about Yahoo. So, disregarding the Yahoo policies mentioned, I will say again, it's a bunch of people who simply don't agree with your opinion and want it off the board. It's not right
Is Operation Northwoods the proof you would like to provide us with?

I'm not from US, but I think freedom of expression have always been that way, that kind of restriction has always existed even in the most free countries.
I believe it's also related to the way of write, and speak things, people can't be offensive or radical.
In some way, the government and communication companies have to maintain some order, do you imagine what would happen if everyone comes with their own thoughts? , wouldn't it be a complete disaster?

In my personal humble opinion, they don't seem to.
The most immediate and obvious example is homosexuality. See how "anti-gay" people are antagonized and almost criminalized compared to how open homosexuals are perceived, when both are merely practicing freedom of speech.

You have confused yourself. The US government has to grant freedom of speech to all citizens. However there are all limitations.
Y! Answers is private enterprise. They do not have to grant space to anyone who makes goofy statements if they do not want to.
