Do cereals even still DO those? Back in the day, your mom would buy your fave junk cereal & you would literally dig to get to the prize.

Today, I guess if there's not an iPod in it, the kids don't want it, huh?

Memories like this make me wonder if kids even still:

jump rope
make paper airplanes
go outside...

Nope havent seen a cereal box in awhile that still have a toy in them. I loved when there was toys in the box. I would always dump out the cereal and go straight for the toy haha :]

Agree about the ipod thing.

Kids don't like that stuff anymore... I tutor a bunch of kids from ages 8 to 12 and they are so spoiled! They're always texting and have all these expensive stuff even I don;t have.... The don't appreciate the small things anymore.
I had one of those wonderballs (the type with candy inside) and me and the other tutor were sharing it and being all happy and the kids were like "it's not like it's an sidekick"... so spoiled....
The prize at the bottom of the bag of cracker jacks use to be the highlight of my day... kids don't appreciate those small things anymore... *sigh*

*edit
Honestly, I haven't seen a kid out playing or jump roping in my neighborhood in a while. When i was 10, we use to play out on the block all the time... kids today stay indoors with the computer, PSP and all that stuff
They do, however, make paper airplanes (I just had a 10 year old throw that at my head just last week)

What cereal box prizes? When I was really little a few cereals still did that but now you have to mail in for it if you want the little (piece of shiet) toys advertised on the box.

I buy cereal a lot, and I never get any prizes in mine. Guess it's a thing of the past. But I remember the excitment of digging for that cheap prize at the bottom of the cereal box. And fighting with my siblings over who got it! Lol

I use to really like them- same with cracker jacks BUT they have gotten soooo cheap now a days in what they put in the box. Anything good u have to actually send away for with 5 box tops or some thing like that. Just not the same.....sad isnt it? BUT like u said- most kids want the expensive things- they have cell fones by time they r 8 yrs old! So a little prize in a cereal box is worthless to them

They still put prizes in cereal...I don't see it very often, but they do. My son picked out a box of cereal a few weeks ago that had a sponge Bob spoon topper thing, the hair changes colors...and then there was a box that had some sort of light thingy...
I don't own an ipod, my portable cd player works just fine..

Ha, I used to always dig, only to find out that there was no prize...

Or if there was something advertised on the box, we would have to clip five boxtops and send them in with $20 "shipping and handling" for a cheap plastic toy.

Now my mom doesn't get cereal as much, sadly. I miss my cheap cereal box prizes.

I am still a big kid sometimes, but every little while I see something interesting. Like a step counter or whatever. Otherwise we all have varied tastes in my household, and Cereal prizes are just a bonus.

The cereal boxes were we get them, never have toys in them. My kids don't even understand the coolness of it--used to be such a highlight as a kid lol!
