It depends on you age. The Scream movies are very good and don't have blood for the sake of blood. Christine (1983) is very good. Carrie is great, but there are some bloody scenes that may be a little over the top.

Rocky Horror Picture show is a classic. I know my old town used to play it every halloween. But that's more goofy.

Rocky Horror Picture show is a fun crowd movie...if you have time it's fun to ask the guest to come dressed as the characters in the movie. At my college they had that every year and it was so much fun there's certain parts with dance moves that everyone can dance to.

scream 1,2, or 3 are great scary movies. halloween is a pure classic. nightmare on elm street is good (that one is a little gorey though). the terminator 1 or 2 is really good. psycho is good. the shinning is awesome, really scary. jaws is classic...hope that helps
