I am an energy scientist and I am very fiscal conservative.
As soon as I put a step in the US to join my wife and I had an occasion to meet these people (neocons), I said "no way I am staying here".
US conservatives are 20 years behind conservatives in other OECD countries... and the gap tends to increase.

I have not have been given any situation with the assumption of climate exchange, its been around for as long because of the fact the planet has been. the situation lies with saying that people reason it and the thought giving the government absolute administration of the financial gadget will help. have been given no situation with gay parenthood, if the folk in touch are of a reliable character. Alterantivce potential, I completely help it. The cleanest type woulf be atomic potential. How do you sense approximately it? Conservatives weren't the those that cancelled u . s . a ."s alternative for the area holiday or needed to make NASA an out attain software to muslims.

First, I am not a conservative, but I'd like to know where you got the idea that cons 'hate' science. But I think what many DO have an issue with is how science has been hijacked by persons with a political agenda. That is to say, there are notable scientists who don't tow the line on evolution or global warming and are consequently shunned or, in some cases, fired for their stances.
As for King George, yea, he's done his part to bankrupt America, but he's not the first to do so and he's had a lot of help from the fools on the hill who can't say NO to any spending.

I don't think it's fair to generalize and say all of them hate it, but as someone said above, many Republican politicians have politicized it to the point where many of their followers have come to view it as a battle of good versus evil, religion versus science. That isn't fair to science, because once again it's an extreme generalization. There are many branches of science and most of them do not conflict with religion. Science could save or improve lives (e.g. stem cell research) or prevent us from doing permanent harm to the planet (e.g. global warming research), but the Republicans have demonized these sciences because their platform is largely based on instilling a near-superstitious fear and hatred of all things they label as "liberal". Sadly, it's been working, and that's a sad statement about the gullibility of the voters who fall for that rhetoric.

You make a very good point. Many conservatives seem to have a disdain for the 'intellectual liberal'. What the heck is wrong with being an intellectual?
Me no like brains, me like guns!
I'm not sure conservatives hate science as much as they simply politicize science. At least this is true in terms of global warming. Many conservatives honestly believe that there's this big debate on the issue and half of scientists are skeptical that humans are causing the current global warming. It's unfortunate that they get their information from places like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, who feed them misinformation of this sort.
In terms of evolution, many conservatives seem to favor fudamentalist christianity over science. Here I think you're accurate - they bascially hate science because it's contradicting what their church tells them.
In terms of economics, many conservatives are angry that Bush is such a poor fiscal conservative. Of course, I've seen many here praise Bush for the 'great state of our economy', which never ceases to amaze me. I think as with global warming, they're simply in denial about the current fiscal realities.

How wrong you are. Conservatives do not "hate" science, nor deny that global warming is real. I do not believe it is man made, and neither do most others I have talked to about it.
A recent Danish science report on GW states that the sun is still the major cause of GW. I doubt those scientists are in our governments pocket. I might ask, why do you hate Danish scientists?
That would make as much sense as your "question.
I am not a huge GWB fan, myself. He has done some good things and some bad things just as every other President has done.
I would like to see any of you armchair politicians do even half as well in the same position.
You are no conservative, thats for sure. Your rant proves that.
You just go on missing Slick Willie, the man that let Osama bin Ladin go free to begin with.
I cant believe most people that hate GWB ignore that very true fact.

No one denies global warming. After all the polar ice caps on Earth and Mars are melting. The sun is hotter. it's as simple as that. But some people prefer blaming humans, their SUVs, farting cows, Americans (not the Chinese), etc while they fly around in private jets, show us pictures of stranded polar bears, and hockey stick graphs, and claim to be experts. It's all done as a "convenient truth" for political gain by some.
Deforestation is what damages our environment the most. Why isn't anyone screaming about the demise of the forests and the fact that we waste too much wood on newspapers (that have a 1 day lifespan).
Al Gore is as much a scientist, as OJ Simpson is a hair stylist.

funny considering its the conservatives that want a debate on the merits of anthropologic global warming but its the libs that say the debate is settled. most intelligent conservatives (like I dont know einstein) agree that evolution does occur but there has to be something that started it all. and SCIENCE SAYS SOMETHING CANT COME FROM NOTHING. And our debt to GDP ratio is 64 % of total debt and only 34% of public debt. the deficit is declining and the economy is still growing at a slower rate but still growing at a faster rate then interest. which if you studied economics you would know is the perfect scenario. So it seems someone hates facts more than conservatives hate science huh.

Wonderful! Parties are destroying the country, ignore them and decide what is right for yourself!
Thank you for realizing the party betrayed you-they betrayed me too. I voted for Bush back when he pretended to be a conservative. Oddly enough, my conservative beliefs now get me labeled as a liberal....
If the party ever decides to be conservative again, she will find many of her lost children are waiting for her return.

I do too.
Because science involves thinking, logic, a set of procedures, and no amount of BS will get you out of whatever you get into it. It's real work. It requires brains.
Bush and Cheney don't have them as far as I can tell. They only speak the bottom line. $ lining up their already fat pockets, securing the grandkid's grandkid's grandkid's, etc.
