They are designed to make you wait, become bored, and make some impulse purchase of candy you didn't want,a magazine you wont read and batteries for an appliance you never use.Just another way to suck the cash out of us.

Walmart works very hard to have only enough people being paid at every given moment to handle the number of people they expect to have in the store at that time. During the busiest times almost all the checkouts will be womaned while during slack times there will be 4-6 open. If there is an empty line or one with one person, some manager has misjudged. If you would like better service, go to a store that charges more for goods and provides more people.

Because walmart wants to monopolize and take over the world. So they make everyone think they are the best by being huge and having 30 checkout lanes but they are too cheap to pay their workers enough, so they just open 1 lane and make you wait 5 hours to check out.

They don't want you to leave.
I have a reoccuring nightmare where there is no exit, the front of the store? Just more store. Can't get out, can't send for help.

No one is forcing you to shop there. If you dont' like the service, go to a kmart. The store is usually empty.

I think between Christmas and Thanksgiving they open most of them up. Ours has self checks. I like those.

I hear you - customer service only rarely exists there. If you find it, its in the form of a cashier because you can't find help at all in the aisles.
