Some people say it destroys the sanctity of marriage, but isn't that a religion view, which should be separated by state.
besides, its not truely marriage, because marriage is covered by religion, and civil union recognized by the state.
more marriages would create more families looking to buy houses and pay taxes, and isn't that a good thing?
and some people, as i was on a previous question on yahoo answers, say that its not love, its physical attraction. but isn't that just as true for hetrosexual couples
from that same link, some one else says that what gives them the right to redefine marriage, and then compares it to redefining murder as good! Who gets hurt from gay marriage!?! This guy, as many do, claims we are invoking the wrath of God, but once again, that doesn't satisfy separation of church/state?
Some say its stops procreation, but if there gay, they aren't going to do that anyway
I just dont get it. can someone give me a logical reason why we shouldnt support it?

and if marriage is about love, why can't you love someone of the same sex? why does it have to be a trick of the mind? what does it hurt?
another person says that gay marriage is harmful to children, but isnt that just because of the stigma of homosexuality. If it was accepted, wouldnt child baring for gay couple be the same as heterosexual couples?
people also keep saying gay and straight are a choice. well if this is the case, can one of you, just for a day, choice to be gay. Prove to me that it is a choice. and even if it is, who cares. doesnt change the fact they would like to be gay, because we have the freedom to pursuit of happiness, and if that makes them happy, why stop it.
Someone please give me a reason, besides that "God says its wrong." I truely believe these people are just to uneducated to make any logical reasoning.

Marriage is usually carried out in a church with the blessing of God and a Pastor/Priest/Minister.
I'm all for civil unions. Gay couples should have all the same privileges under the law that married heterosexual couples have. But leave Marriage the way God defined it.
(And your link leads to a deleted question...)

I only wish I could give you a logical reason, however their decisions are not based on logic or reasoning.
Plus the world is overpopulated anyway...there should be more married couples not having kids...straight or gay. Plus the gays can adopt the children that the single straight people keep popping out and not caring for.
Ummm..and Phillip's first answer (above me) is a point FOR accepting gay marriage not against!!!!!!!!!!!! What about the gay couple who both work at low paying factory jobs and the only real benefit is their pension? These people have committed to living a life together and perhaps the survivor cannot make ends meet now that the spouse is no longer living.
If God was gonna unleash a wrath on us....why wouldn't he do it for our desctruction of the environment, the increase in crime, the divorce rate increasing, abortions (note: I am pro-choice but it seems to me that this would anger God more than two gays getting married) , or many other things that are more serious than gay marriage.
EDIT: And I LOVE your argument on the "choice" matter...I am gonna have to use that one myself,

nobody really has an answer to your question.
ppl only have that "god doesnt allow it" reason under their belts. god doesnt allow ppl to steal and kill, yet street crime goes up every year and robberies happen every 3 minutes. god doesnt want ppl to judge others, but yet, everyone who thinks being gay is a sin, judges us all the time.
so whats the excuse for that?! there is none and if there is, no one will ever answer those questions. theyre all hypocrites.
procreation wont be a problem, theres stupid "straight" ppl who like to fk anything that walks that will keep that part of the world going. =) and the mothers who dont want the kids, or are too young to take care of one, who will keep reproducing for us.
youre right, when it comes to marriage, that would mean more taxes and house buying and all that junk, which we already pay for as it is in taxes, dont ya think.
but society would rather sell a house to a drug dealer whos selling to kids and killing them. way to go!!!
who the hell is anyone to say that being gay is a physical attraction as opposed to love...
so you mean to tell me that 25 year old girls who marry 85 year old men, did for attraction!?!!?!?!? haha.. plz. love and money can be the answer for that one. not physical attraction.
when it boils down to it, the only thing that they have on gay ppl is the religious aspect of things, and even then, they are hypocrites. those same ppl are the ones have have husbands that stay up late at nite and watch porn, which more than 1/2 the time, include girl on girl action.
theres just too many ppl in this world who need to worry bout their own disfunctional family, and leave gay ppl alone to live their life.

initially the regulation does not interfere right into a place of worship. Any church or temple can pick to no longer marry a pair with out worry of prosecution. Marriage is already defined as a guy and a woman so what has stopped a father and daughter suing to marry so some distance - your argument on that one is senseless by any skill. human beings can no longer sue to be married, it does not artwork that way and not in any respect has. i do no longer understand the finished criminal stuff in this yet needless to say the regulation does not enable it or human beings might have already performed it. 2 consenting adults could desire to be allowed to marry. finished end. @Jessica your no longer a lesbian your in straightforward terms some bored troll.

In my mind, there is only one reason to oppose gay marriage: it is a corruption of the classical meaning of the word, which people generally and properly understand to refer to a heterosexual relationship. But all of the legal advantages can be obtained by "civil unions", which are legal in many states and which term does not imply heterosexuality. I approve of these.

No i don't really think there is a good answer to that. I personally think that gay marriages should be allowed and that theres no reason why they shouldn't. And as for those who say that god is going to unleash his wrath on us if we allow it then they need to take a better look at the world around them. I mean god doesn't strike down those who murder and rape innocent little children does he? NO.

Here's an example:
There was a gay congressman who recently died. He was getting that outlandish retirement pay that Congressmen get. His gay lover couldn't claim it as a survivor benefit. Gay marriage would cost companies and the government money to cover these people as "spouses."
Also, I don't think they should be allowed to adopt. Allowing gay marriage makes it seem more "normal" and "accepted," while in fact it is an abomination and we should be offering mental health services, not church services.

Marriage entitles spouses to survivor benefits. This is for wives who stay at home to raise kids instead of building a career. Since same sex couples don't procreate they have no reason to forego a career and don't need the survivor benefit.

My answer would come from a religious viewpoint. God condemns homosexuality (gay or whatever you want to call it) in the Bible. That's a good enough answer for me.
