I never did download anything illegally... at least not in that sense. I have downloaded some CDs from FTP sites that were networked among friends, but always with the intention of checking out the disc before purchase. For every CD I downloaded, I can either produce an original store (or in most cases eBay) purchased copy, or show that the files are no longer on my PC. I just prefer to have the real, tangible product in my hands. It makes the CD easier to enjoy if I spend my hard earned money on it.

People need to actually READ the whole thing. She isn't in all that trouble for downloading songs. She's in so much trouble for DISTRIBUTING. CNN covered this story, and the record companies themselves said that the main focus of these type of things are the people who make their library of music available to others for downloading. Little Susie down the block who downloads a few songs to make herself a mix CD.....isn't as much a threat as Little Bobby who not only downloads music, but also makes it easier for others to do the same. And usually(not saying always) people get a warning before they get charged.

"The record companies said Thomas was sent an instant message in February 2005 warning her that she was violating copyright law."

Not long after that, she got a new hard drive.....Hmmm, suspicious much?

Probably not. I love downloading music and I dont see why it is illegal. It shouldnt be. Killing, DWI, Polygamy, and drugs should be illegal. In my opinion downloading music isnt really that bad. So I probably will not stop.
