SRT is just a text file. Notepad can open it.

To *use* it is a different matter altogether. It's usually associated with an AVI or similar video file, and you need a compatible player, such as VLC, BSPlayer, or MPC to display both together.

srt/ are subtitles files.
VLC player can play them just fine.
