they let it touch the ground, get wet, get torn, wear it on hats and shirts place graffiti over it, use it for merchandising purposes, do not dispose of it properly, raise it properly, lower it properly, leave it flying over night without being lit. All in the name of patriotism they have desecrated the flag more than those middle eastern protestors that are seen burning it.

It makes no sense to make a blanket statement about all republicans saying they are the ones who desecrate the flag. Many republicans respect it greatly, just like many democrats surely don't treat it with enough respect.
