Why would you want to live with him?Isn't that defeating the purpose of a divorce.

I filed for divorce and continued living in the same house with my husband for a year until it was final. Reason was because we both felt entitled to keep the house (me because I didn't think it was fair to uproot my daughter) and if I had left, I would have seriously compromised my position in being able to keep it. It was hell on earth for that year, but well worth it.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why would you live with him after a divorce? Why would you divorce him if you were going to continue to live with him?

yes actually you can. thats what i did, but in my case both me and my husband agreed on the divorce and went to the lawyer together. If your husband doent know about the divorce then things can get a little uncomfortable for you. So it kind of all depends on your situation i guess

Mama, as strange as it sounds I do know of another couple who shared their matrimonial home after they divorced, mostly for financial reasons and it worked out just fine for them thank you very much. It takes both parties to be mature, friendly and open to each other though. Once either of you decide to start seeing other people and/or having people of the opposite sex stay the night is when the real test of maturity begins. Best of luck and you should discuss this with your partner and set out some rules and expectations before making this decision however.

Well, you're getting a divorce, so time to support yourself. I don't think it's right for you to stay if you are leaving him. That's just sending mixed signals. No need to hurt someone more than they already are... if you are going to file, go ahead and move out.

If he wants you to then yes but it would be better if you moved out. Have you two talked about divorce or will it be a shock to him?

Go to home depot and buy a tent. You can live in the park when he kicks your butt out.
