My first attempt of the SATs was horrible; I got a low score. Though, I do get good grades in school I have a 4.3 GPA (not trying to brag, I'm just trying to prove a point). Is this normal for a first time?

I have actually improved a lot since then. The math and writing sections (grammar and mechanics) do not seem that difficult anymore. I still need to improve on thinking more quickly to fit the time limit, analyzing the critical reading section more effectively, not making careless mistakes and brainstorming on the essay. Any tips? I know one of the keys is to think logically and critically. Is the Guide Paradise as helpful as some have said it to be? I really want to get a good score. I believe I can do it. I believe anything is possible; I did improve on my scores tremendously.

You can buy practice test books to help you prepare for these tests. I suggest you get one or two, and spend some time going through them.

You seem to have a good handle on your studying and progress for the SAT.

You will find a number of helpful sites below. Some of them may be commercial in nature and I am not recommending that you spend any money in SAT preparation.

Good luck.
