And is it really talent when you talk over a manufactured beat with a dozen guest artists and a digital cut-and-paste of someone else's song?

unfortunately until the trends change (which are dictated by the powers that be) this will continue.

While I feel that in many instances it lacks creativity sometimes there can be great songs made from samples. This is not the norm but the exception.....

Another reason that this trend continues is that the artist who created these songs don't stop artist from sampling their work. That could mean a LOT OF MONEY for artist that haven't been out in a while if a big name artist wants to use their song for a sample. So it's also up to the original artist as to who can use their songs. If they feel that the song will be offensive they can opt not for the artist to use their material......

Personally I don't like it that much with the exception that it's use very creatively. If the song sounds more like a sample than a new song then it's something that anybody can do but a REAL ARTIST will make it sound like a completely different song altogether.

I am so with you on this. It is ridiculous really. There is a lot less talent involved when the use an old track and have 13 rappers on it.

Standing Ovation for that! I tell my young daughter can't they come up with anything original. All of this so called "sampling". I tell my kids, go and listen to the original, not this studio made re-hash of great songs

God yes! There's nothing more annoying when you start to hear a good old song only to find it chopped up and torn apart.

What songs are you talking about exactly? Beautiful Girls? I think it's a good song. I don't know what other songs you're talking about though.
