This seems to be an on going threat, which has just emerged in the last couple of years. We have had it in Australia.
38 Deaths is absolutely not acceptable, even one, is not acceptable. What is wrong with these companies? It really gets my back up to read how the consumer is suffering at the hand of greedy corporates, who don't give one d.... about their cleanliness, the kind of staff they hire. And who, in the State or Government is doing hygienic tests and random testing on all food products. No one! Don't let me get started about this. I hope they close them down for good, and instead of adopting an apathetic attitude, the American public, should now refuse to buy these burgers. Or anything else that has been made by them. If WE the consumer don't stand up now. It will be too late.

I had heard about the recall, but was not aware of so many deaths or the plant shutting down.
There was an article in the paper a few days ago about a woman who purchased a can of Allen's Green Beans from Wal Mart. When she opened the can to make her kids lunch there was a rat head in the beans. Allen's offered her $100.00 to close the deal and not sue the company.

Company shuts down over E Coli? That's pretty crappy if you ask me. It seems like everything we eat these days have E Coli, Botulism, Shigella or some source of Montezuma's Revenge. It's a great way to lose weight, but I've pretty much taken up being a scratch cook to avoid it. Yes, and I plant my chickens and cows in the spring for the fall harvest and let my beans tomatoes and onions free range in the pasture.

It seems like there has been a never-ending number of recalls lately - it makes you wonder, what next? Well, can you believe that badges awarded to Cub Scouts are now being recalled due to dangerous levels of lead. These are the plastic totem badges usually given to Cub Scouts between the ages of 7 and 8.

There's a recall for Campbells Chunky baked potatoe and cheddar with bacon bits soup. Yet another thing to check. Don't know about anyone else.....but I never remember food being tainted and such and so many recalls like it is now. Scared to eat anymore.

I had not heard that yet. Thank you for that information. I can not believe there are so many things being recalled these days. Is some group trying to wipe out our country or something?

as a senior citizen we are more prone to death by tainted meats and viruses and bacteria in general and we have to be careful. I started buying a chuck roast and cutting it in cubes and putting it thru my meat grinder, hopefully that won't be tainted. Thanks for your heads up!
