Yes. Jellyfish can sting you. As i don't like to be stung, I would think that is dangerous.

A jellyfish fires its poison whenever its tentacles brush against an object. In humans, the poison usually causes a sharp, burning sensation that may last from minutes to hours.
1. Take note of jellyfish warning signs posted on the beach.
2. Be careful around jellies washed up on the sand. Some still sting if their tentacles are wet. Tentacles torn off a jelly can sting, too.
3. If you are stung, wash the wound with vinegar or rubbing alcohol. Or sprinkle meat tenderizer or put a baking soda and water paste on the sting. Don't rinse with water, which could release more poison.
All jellies sting, but not all jellies have poison that hurts humans. Of the 2,000 species of jellyfish, only about 70 seriously harm or occasionally kill people.

Depending on the species, most jellyfish are pretty harmless. like everyone's been saying a sting usually only causes irritation arount the site of the sting. And you can try peeing on the sting but the ammonia content will probably be to low to help any. There is a species of jellyfish, fox jellyfish, found off the caost of australia who's sting can be fatal.

I wouldn't swim in a cloud of them but have seen many swimming in the Gulf and been stung by a few. If you get a big sting it can be pretty painful. My son is 6 and we've been Boogie Boardin all summer, both have been stung a few times. Not really a big deal. Surfs Up

Funny you should ask. Just this weekend I was snorkling and the jelly fish were the size of pizza pies! Yikes. If you are allergic and basically we all do have a moderate reaction to these creatures, Yes. If you are severely allergic like anaphalactic reaction, where your throat swells, eyes swell, you stop breathing, wholly molely that's wicked dangerous. Try and avoid them, when they touch your skin you'll get a nasty rash and it hurts like the dickens.

They'll sting you, but if you pee on yourselfit takes away the burn but there are some that'll paralyze you or cause you to die. Sometimes you can get an allergic reaction which wouldn't be good either. I hear the ones in Austrailia are not safe.
