Why is it that the last decade of baseball. There have only been two baseball team types that have been winning these World Series? Mostly the New York Yankees, or either one of these damn new expansion teams like the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Florida Marlins, etc. See, I'm old school. I'm wondering why come the teams that been around for years aren't winning these world series. I already know the Cubs are going to get beat, and I already know the Phillies are going to get beat. It's always been that way, these new teams are going to the World Series more often than these teams that played for years. I watch the games and the older teams look like they're just letting them win, no enthusiasm whatsoever (Cubs, Phillies) It's making me so damn mad too.

The corporations have ruined it. Didn't you love watching Cleveland stomp the Yankees last night? I think it is fixed. Some teams just look like they are trying to lose in the play-offs.

Ummm the last decade has seen the following "Old School" (any team that's been around for 40 years?) teams win...
The Yankees 4 times
The Angels 2002
The Red Sox 2004
The White Sox 2005
The Cardinals 2006
so the last 3 have been old school and 8 of the past 10 (ok 4 of those are the Yankees, but you have to expect the Yanks to win at least 25% of all World Series).

Of the 20 teams that have played in the World Series only 3 teams are "new": The Marlins 1997 & 2003, The Padres (and they've been around since 1969) in 1998, The DiamondBacks in 2001.

You are just being blinded by what you want to see many teams that have been around for a while two examples are the Cardianls last year and the Red Sox a couple years ago and besides it is refreshing to see new teams make the playoffs. And the Yankees haven't won the world series in 6 years. So what are you complaining about?

No, I don't agree. Think of it. 2004 the Red Sox snap a big long streak. An old school team. 2005 the White Sox snap a big long streak. Another old school team. 2006 the St. Louis Cardinals, the most successful NL World Series team, snaps a rather long dry spell. Yet another old school team. That's 3 in a row and in the last 3 years, too. Be patient. Your teams will get in there.

The winners of the world series since 2000 are the: Yankees, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, and the Cardinals last year. I really have no idea what you are talking about, eight different winners in the past eight years, how much better can it get?.

a million) merely approximately each and every team in baseball has a sparkling stadium interior the final fifteen years, involved in the point of producing extra gross revenues. Why hate the Yankees for doing the comparable ingredient? 2) Steinbrenner grew to become into unwell. it fairly is especially low classification to take a shot at him like that, yet i'm going to provide you the comprehensive thing relating to the doubt and assume you probably did not comprehend that. And for the checklist - i don't in elementary terms like the Yankees, yet this night grew to become right into a classification act all the way via the Yankees. the different team in activities desires that they had that kind of history to celebrate.

I disagree. Parity is the reason for what you are asking.

Like it or not, it's what Bud Selig wants and it's come true.

Also, it's a long season and when playoff time comes around anything can happen in these short playoffs.

All the regular season stats and records go out the door for the most part in the playoffs.

I doubt any team just lays down for another. That's just not rational thinking.
I'm not a Yankee hater, but do get sick of all they hype around them.

poor doug, though you try to lump NY into #1, they are actually #2

there are very few teams that have more starters developed from the farm than the Yanks. Ooops.

2. you can develop your youth and see what they have. after you determine that they have a shot, you can sign some key free agents that can lead them to a championchip. for those teams it is just a small amout of time where they have everything going for them, and they can either win it or not win it in that span.

there are two ways to win the world series.

1. you can be the yankees, spend an unfair amount of money and buy your way to the playoffs or the world series.

2. you can develop your youth and see what they have. after you determine that they have a shot, you can sign some key free agents that can lead them to a championchip. for those teams it is just a small amout of time where they have everything going for them, and they can either win it or not win it in that span.

You are so right. And doesn't it irritate you how many times the announcers bring up the pitch count? Old time fans remember that a starting pitcher was expected to finish the game. How would you tell a competitor like Bob Gibson that you were taking him out even though he was winning the game but his pitch count was high?
