i have walked around with a new born kitten in my bra keeping it warm until i could get it to a vet. I also did the same for a baby rat (i kept rats as pets) whose mother was trying to kill it. I fed it while it was in my bra, feeding it kitten milk from a dropper. After a few days (not in my bra constantly, i hasten to add!) it had enough strength to rejoin the others and the mother stopped trying to kill it.

My kind of person. I am going to get into trouble one of these days. I live in a very quiet neighbourhood where there are many chameleons. The poor beggars just cannot resist crossing the streets (and they are sooo slow). When I see them I stop to pick them up and put them in the direction that they were going. On a number of occasions I have been shouted at , threatened, cursed etc by irate drivers. Quite frankly I don't give a toss. See chameleon, stop, remove from danger, pacify drive on. It is just the way I am and I cannot help it. I am really bad and I see my daughter is just as bad. Went out this evening (she's learning to drive) everything was fine and all of a sudden she jammed on the brakes. She saw a minute toad that I had missed - hopped out of the car picked it up and put it back in the bush. What have I created? I am so proud of her. LOL

Poor kitty-- I'm glad it's away from traffic now.
Although I don't think anything that helps another being is 'weird' I've done some things other ppl might consider strange. I'm vegetarian & use cruelty-free products whenever possible.
Most of our companion animals are rescues. I've got out og bed @ all hours to feed or medicate anyone who needed it (this has included birds, cats & rats, either b/c they were sick or babies who needed frequent feeding). Although terrified of needles, I learned how to give our diabetic cat insulin & have treated abcesses on pet rats. When trying to get finicky rats to eat a new food, I've eaten some & gently breathed on the little guys so they'd know it was 'safe.' Yes it works ;-)
Ok, maybe that last one is weirdest-- food taster for rats!

I feed my three dogs often from a spoon. I open a can of wet food as a treat and they sit on the floor waiting their turns as I feed them spoon by spoon, It's cute to watch. I make a habit of rescuing dogs and cats.
Oh, I forgot, I have to mention this one, I stopped my car one time to break up a fight between a rooster that was bullying a smaller little red chicken.
Nice to hear all the stories from people that love animals. Keep up the good work.

A couple years ago, I noticed my cat was looking under a huge pine tree I have, wouldn't move when I tried to make him move. A pair of Blue Jays were dive bombing him. Got down on my knees , there were three baby birds huddled together with a nest on the ground next to them. They were so little, no feathers and eyes closed.
A neighbor came by, helped me collect them (this was not easy), we were able to fasten the nest inside the tree and put the birds back. I wouldn't let my cat out for a couple days, he never really paid any attention to the tree after that, so I guess the birds made it.

I screamed to my mom to stop in the middle of a busy road because I saw a squirrel where my mom was going to be, and she did, and it gave it time to run away lol Also, I have cupped a huugee spider in my hand so I could free it and to throw it outside, and this happened in a class room so everyone thought I was a weirdo lol

I applaude you on putting your humanity first, and caring for that little kitty! Good girl!
I had to I.V. my cat who was dying of feline leukemia, by way of written instructions, we couldn't get the vet out to do it for a week ( deep winter, way out in the country...)
I'd worked with Thoroughbred's and other horses and animals with shots and operations, but shaving that little paw, and he was so-o-o- sick, poor baby...
oh..and I completely overcame a lifelong PHObia of snakes to help a friend remove the stitches from a 12 foot burmese python...I just had to, after a while, watching everybody struggling away, trying to get him to stop cringing away from the feel of the tweezers, I realized he was just another animal in need; how do you not help, after that? Now, I love most snakes (not albino little ones,tho'...I stil don't like worms!)
Maybe one day I'll like spiders, too, like the poster above me!

Well, it wasn't me, but my wife used a stick once when we were at the beach and pushed a jellyfish that has washed on shore back into the ocean when we vacationed in Myrtle Beach.

I took an injured bird into my home overnight. I put it in a box with branches, water and bread. The next day I took it to the animal shelter and when I opened the box to show them, the bird flew off. I felt stupid, but I was trying to be helpful
