Why would you say that your chances of going into labor today are very slim? With you already being 40 weeks and the increased pain the last few days and your dialation, it could very well be at any time. Try to just be patient. I know its not the best feeling in the world but when the time is right it will happen. Dont try to force it, you could make it worse and drag out longer than necessary. Take a warm bath and try to relax! It will come sooner than you think!

Congratulations, you are going to have a baby very soon. I noticed that I would clean the house in a burst of energy prior to delivering my children. They call that the "nesting" behavior. Also, I slept extremely well prior to going into labor, it's almost like my body was preparing for the marathon of natural child birth. Now, my daughters were right on time, my son, however was 2 weeks late, men, go figure, they don't want to leave, LOL. The plan your doctor has is a sound one, you want the body to naturally go into labor and let nature take it's course. If you need to be induced, a drug named Pitocin is often used. Sometimes just rupturing the membranes (breaking your water) is enough to get things moving. Being only dilated 2 cm's means things are happening, but not immediately. Talk to your mom or sisters who have had children and get them to tell you about their chain of events it might give you some insight on how things will play out for you. Let me share one more thing, after I delivered my first child, that evening, I missed being pregnant and having her so close to me. Enjoy every minute of your up-in-coming adventure. Best of luck.

I was 41 weeks and the day before I actually went into labor I paced and cried for 12 hours (from aroudn 5pm to 5am) because the baby was sooo low I couldn't sit or lay down. I felt like I had a bowling ball wedged between my legs.
I finally called the answering service at 5am and I went in to be checked at 9am and I was 3 cms and effaced (I forget what %) but not in labor so she sent me home and said to sit in the tub since I couldn't sit.
My contractions started at noon at 5 minutes apart then after 40 minutes, they were 3 minutes apart and I went to the hospital were I was 5 cms dilated and my water broke as I was changing into the hospital gown.
I think you are going to go soon.
Good luck

I dont think you need to be induced. You sound like you're progressing already.
You'll feel like shiot for a couple days before labor starts, to the point where everything hurts and you cant sleep. I know it was true for me and everyone I know.
Just try to stay active as much as you can, even though it hurts. Swimming helps a lot.
Getting induced will only make things worse, i promise. You're so close already, i cant imagine you going very many more days.
Go try to poop. That how I got my labor started ;)

If you are 40 weeks then you should be going to the doctor 2 times per week. Maybe you should request an earlier appointment or call them and tell them what is going on... most likely they will want you to come in and they will check you and you can express how you feel while you are there.

Did you gain a lot of weight or baby is too big? You probably in labor already but just dialating very slowly. It is up to your doctor. I was at 38 weeks and similar situation as you and they broke my water for me and induced me.

I'd say phone the doctor, tell him what your situation is and that you can't take it anymore.
Ask him to meet you at the hospital and induce you. When you are in pain you put unnecessary stress on your baby.
Good luck!

I think that you should express this to your doc regardless if they want to induce or not. Your health and your baby's health could be at risk and that's not cool, and obviously the pain is uncomfortable and this should be taken care of. Go to the doc asa you can sweetie...Good Luck

You could ask, some doctors will, some won't unless the baby is in danger.

I think you need to call your MD right away and tell him that you are in a lot of pain. Do it RIGHT NOW!
