are there really genuine work from home jobs and i mean jobs not businesses?

Genuine work-from-home jobs require skills. The kind that I see most often are in software development and software implementation. There are also plenty of independent consultants that work from home.

There are also some relatively less skilled home-based jobs in customer service and support, but those often require part-time attendance.
