Yes, it's a brand new house. It's in the Las Vegas, NV region so I'm wondering whether or not it's due to the dry climate here.

I took a closer look, most of the cracks are hairline-size cracks, differing in sizes but hairline size nonetheless. Looks like I'll have to wait for some months before I can put up the blinds if I have to wait for the foundation to completely settle before repairing it. Is it a major problem to have the foundation settling? Thank you everyone for your comments.

I suspect that it might be that the house is settling. Just to be sure, contact your contractor or an independent building inspector and make sure that all is well.

Yes have it fixed before hanging up the blinds. One thing is a lot of house foundations are poured before they give the ground time to settle. So the house settles later and cracks show up. It can also get to the point where doors and windows will not close right. If its a new house less then a year old get someone in to check the foundation.

It is normal for a house to settle and have cracks but it usually does not appear so quickly. If I were you I would get a structual engineer to inspect the foundation and get their opinion. If they determined that the builder cut corners or did something wrong I would talk to the builder and follow up with a letter. If the builder did not solve the problem I would then retain the services of a attorney. If the builder is reputable they should be willing to correct their mistakes. Foundation repair is very expensive and will adversely affect the value of the house even though it has been corrected.

One thing that happens when a house is constructed is, as you add materials to the house construction, the weight loading changes. For example, when we remodeled our house last year, the site supervisor waited until the roof was installed before doing the drywall. He said the extra weight of the asphalt shingles could cause the roof structure to flex a bit and, if they put the drywall in first, it may result in some buckling of the drywall surface at the ceiling.
Also, some drying of the wood frames can cause some shrinkage, resulting in separation of drywall at corners - including where the windows are installed.
To remedy the situation, use either a clear or white silicone caulk at the junctions that are cracking. If it's in a wall around the window frame, use spackling compound to fill the cracks. Then repaint (touch-up) and hang your blinds.

hi,i assuming that the cracks are in the sheet rock.if so ,it is normal for there to be some cracking in a new home due to settling.you should give it about a year ,then fix them .if its been that long already then fixing them now is what you should do .this you can do your self,if there just hair line cracks. use One Time crack filler from your local hardware store.if there joints that cracked, like under or on top of the windows then they will need to be taped and coated and then primed and repainted.this you can do yourself also.it sounds like it mite be difficult but its really rather simple.there is a great DVD on the web at ucandrywall.com that will walk you right though it .or else you mite want to call your contractor and have them come back and fix them.good luck.

It some times takes a little bit of time for the house to settle. The cracks around the windows should be fixed. Thats going to let out your a/c or heat. Bad. If you had a contractor do the work have them come out and see what they can do.

No, it isn't normal if it is a brand new home.
The house can settle, but that takes a little time. If it is new, call the contractor to come fix things. If you dont have one, you will want to fill the holes and get them fixed ASAP.
I would have them look at the windows before you put holes to hang blinds ..

It would not sound like a poltergeist as they may well be very messy and unfavourable and in many cases throw issues or circulate issues around. there may well be a spirit that used to stay on the grounds previously the domicile replaced into built and are in many cases disturbed with construction artwork. in addition they can exchange into lively as they get potential from you. They make themselves prevalent via noises maximum widely and can sometimes circulate products too yet not in many cases in a risky way mutually with throwing issues. you would be superb to take a seat interior the upstairs section with a chum for a at a similar time as and get in touch with out to ask if everyone seems to be there and look ahead to any noise that would teach they are attempting to touch you. you are able to ask questions mutually with is somebody there and wait to be certain if there is noise and attempt to be certain sure and no solutions mutually with faucet as quickly as needless to say, two times for no and so on. it would additionally be a reliable thought to objective and locate out what replaced into there on the land previously it replaced into your place.

It sounds like it's brand new if your hanging window treatments. You should make a list of things like this and give it to the builder. Within a year of purchase you have a builders warranty for things such as this. They should have disclosed the warranty to you. Good Luck ;-)

Call your builder! Especially if this is a brandnew house and stillunder that one year warranty. They will fix it.
Especially now with winter coming you want to have your house nicely sealed up, especially around the windows.
