Yes, thrush is common during breastfeeding and is in fact a yeast infection, just not in the "usual" places.

Yes, you can. Your doctor can perscribe a medication that is safe. Also, you can use lotrimin AF (over the counter) but just wipe it off thoroughly before your baby eats. You can also use a 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water solution, soak your nipples in it, then rinse off. I do this in the shower regularily to rid any infectious bacteria. Infections and bacteria cannot survive in vinegar. Good luck.

Yes. Double check with your doctor, but any topical medication is generally not transmitted through breast milk, and I believe the pills for severe infections are also safe.
