I mean this nicely, but are you just being funny? ;)

Gianni is said exactly like Johnny (slightly different if you actually have an Italian accent ... but in that case you'd pronounce Johnny that way as well LOL). "Deiony," on the other hand, looks like DEE-on-ee on first glance -- like the Dei- in Deirdre would be pronounced -- but then many will stumble over the three random vowels in a row and likely come up with dee-IE-on-ee (sounds like "the irony" LOL), day-EE-on-ee, DAY-o-nee, day-oh-NEE, etc.

If you like Gianni, spell it Gianni. Or Johnny, if you're really looking to simplify things. But you can't just use a random grouping of letters to represent sounds they cannot possibly make. If you could, you might simply name her Naomi or Zeaiuonheigh and insist it still be said "Gianni/Johnny." And that's just silly! ;)

I don't see it working. No matter how long I look at Deiony, I get a dozen pronunciations, but not "Dianni."

Deionee is worse.

I guess the only one that might work is Dianni. But I think it is a little over the top.

I'd keep it simple. Beautiful name, and unique, I just think it looks hard to pronounce even though it really is not. how about:
deyoni
deoni
Diony
Deony
Dionee
deyonee
Deonee
i think the ei make it look confusing.

No I do not like it

Why do people feel they have to "make up" names? There are plenty of "original" or different names out there without having to make up your own

Honestly, I think it's horrible. Why on earth would you want to saddle your child with a name that nobody will ever be able to pronounce?

I know a man named Diony, pronounced with a Duh, his name is short for the greek god of wine... Dionisis... i probably spelled that wrong.
Has really not much to do with the question.. But he always gets compliments on his name.
