When my 2nd grade teacher asked me why I couldn't spell (sometime back in the 80's) I told her, "Why should I learn how to spell? My dad has a spell-checker on his computer." My teacher was un-thrilled. My mother agreed with me at the parent teacher conference this incident necessitated (so glad she has a sense of humor). Yes, technology destroyed any hope I had of being a spelling bee champ, though, frankly, I never really had much spelling aptitude to begin with. Is it a bad thing? Sort of. I know enough to never send an e-mail (or post an answer) without spell checking and re-reading it at least once. I am able to function just fine though.

Actually, spelling and grammar have been the 2 things I haven't had any real problems with throughout life...unluckily I suck in other subjects, especially math.lol

On sites like this I dont worry as much...I'm not getting graded and my job doesnt depend on it so I'm not too worried.

On the other hand...I see a lot of people on this site that really SHOULD use spell check...or at least try to write a little clearer. If you cant understand peoples questions, how are you supposed to answer them?

Nope, My mom was very strict about spelling and grammar. Now typing sometimes does it for me. I will be typing so fast I get the order of the letters mixed up, or I hit a wrong button.

Actually, it has helped. When I misspell a word and have it corrected by the computer, I try to make a note of it and spell it correctly in the future. It just saves me time looking it up.

I spell wonderfully. I know how to spell. I don't use spell check that often except for words I'm not sure how to spell.

i think of it incredibly is. i'm a school pupil, and it drives me nuts whilst i'm texting with somebody, and that i can't be certain what they are asserting. even whilst i'm typing a quickly message to somebody, I make optimistic there is suitable grammar and each thing is spelled properly. i will from time to time use shortcuts like lol and brb, yet it fairly is approximately it. there have been maximum of situations the place I ought to ask the guy i'm conversing to to resend the message in straightforward English so as that i can comprehend it. yet even info-examining people's papers in school, there is lots short hand occurring it incredibly is loopy, and that i think of that it incredibly is inflicting spelling to be worse.

No, I have always had a pet peeve for spelling mistakes. I have noticed that many kids are not spelling out words on things that they should be..(homework, letters)
