You could be getting a cold. Do you smoke or have you been around someone who does? Cigarette smoke changes the taste buds. When I am about to get sick with a cold everything tastes different or bland. Take some vitamin C to try to keep that cold away, it would be good for you anyway. Or it could just be hormones because girly time is coming. This can change your sense of smell and taste, but should go back to normal once it starts.

Salt stimulates the taste buds in your mouth, same with sugar to make things tastier. They are food enhancers, as are EVOO and vinagar and lemon juice, when drizzled over food.

Salt is probably more of a personal choice, but olive oil is a lipid, lipids always make things taste nicer because back when we were cave people, we needed fat stores to survive as we didn't know when our next meal was coming. So we've evolved to crave fat.

You can say that to almost any seasoning or herbs. I prefer olive oil on my bread or toast in preference to butter or marg. Canino olive oil from Italy is outstanding for flavouring food. Too much salt isn´t good for you but there are many other flavourings to help in it´s place including garlic.

I dunno...I mean its not like you can literally eat salt itself by the spoonful. But if you add it to food it tastes fine. Tough question to answer...

I love salt and I have the high blood pressure to prove it. I could eat it by itself too. I also love the lemon-lime salt it so good on beer. Good luck. 2D

Salty is one of the four basic flavors that our taste buds detect. It appeals to us because our evolutionary background goes back to carnivorous creatures that eat flesh with the blood, which is salty.
