Loved Jackie Wilson!...but he had one troubled life that ended tragically also.... :-(

Jackie's 2nd wife was Sam Cooke's former girlfriend...Harlean

"Wilson suffered a massive heart attack while playing a **** Clark show at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on September 29, 1975, falling head-first to the stage; he was singing "Lonely Teardrops". The blow to the head Wilson suffered left him comatose. For the next eight years and four months he was in a vegetative state until his death at age 49. Al Green, the soul singer, was one of the few artists who regularly visited a bed-ridden Jackie.

Wilson's medical costs were paid for by Elvis Presley and members of The Spinners. According to the biography, Jackie Wilson: Lonely Teardrops[4], he received a well-publicized funeral attended by approximately 1,500 relatives, friends and fans. He is interred in the Westlawn Cemetery in Wayne, Michigan.

Thank you Donya!

I can remember dancing to this in public school. Back in those days we had Friday night dances once a month just like the highschoolers did. I can still remember all those boys standing along the walls refusing to participate, while the girls danced together in the center of the gym and had a ball !

Jackie Wilson is absolutely one of my favorites. We used to listen to 'Lonely Teardrops' over and over on the juke box at the skating rink, every Sat. night.

I think I've discovered a new exercise program. Whenever someone on here gives me a link to one of these rockin' oldies, I get up and dance. That way I don't have to feel guilty about the time I spend sitting and on Y/A. lol
