I've read all the Harry Potter books and yes, they were good. I also read all of John Grisham's books. I like all of them. Anne Rice has really good books too if you like to read about vampires.

I read 2-3 books a week, so it can be a bit hard to sift through them to recommend a couple, but here goes. I read any and all categories of book but I go through phases and I'm in a bit of a horror/ sci-fi mood at present.

Try 'The lies of Locke Lamora' by Scott Lynch. It's set in an alternate world and covers the early life of a young thief / con artist. Some nasty surprises and disillusionments lie in wait as he discovers what kind of a man he really is (or wants to be). He's recently published the second in the series - Red Seas Under Red Skies. I bought it immediately but I'm making myself wait to read it; just to make the whole thing last a bit longer.

I recently read a novel called Bareback by Kit Whitfield which was fantastic and worked on a number of levels. The premise is a society in which the majority of people are born as werewolves but a few genetic mutations are not (hence the pejorative of 'bareback'). The heroine is a bareback who comes from a normal family. The only employment available to her is in policing the werewolf community. She uncovers a medical scandal which will affect her family, her colleagues and the person she loves. What choices will she make? The author uses this as a device to examine loyalty, prejudice and the need we all have to feel like we belong and are loved. I've advised a lot of friends who don't like 'genre' fiction to try this one as it really makes you think about your responses to others. No-one who then read it has had anything but praise for the author.

Hope you like these .

Well, it depends on what you like reading! I like reading chick lit, but sometimes I get bored of it as some chick lit books are good ( i.e: Marian Keyes,Josie Lloyd & Emlyn Rees or Jane Green's books) but some are really terrible!! So sometimes it is much better to read other kind of books. I'm Spanish but I don't read books in Spanish since I was a kid, now I just read books in English ( More books to choose) or Italian ( that way I improve my language skills). The best books I've read are "Thinks..." by David Lodge, "The Rotters Club" by Jonathan Coe, I also loved "The Catcher in the Rye" and the Adrian Mole series as they always make me laugh and smile. While in Italy I discovered an Italian author called Federico Moccia, I've read all his books, he is just amazing, I love the way he writes!!! he is able to make a simple story a masterpiece.

I read "We need to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver (who despite the name is a woman) while on holiday. I had heard it was good, but had been putting off reading it because I didn't think I'd be able to cope with the subject matter. It's a mother's letters to her estranged husband after their son has killed some of his fellow high school students.

I was bowled over by this book. It is so well written and easy to read. I got through it in a couple of days, but it stayed with me for much longer. If anyone out there hasn't read it yet, I would urge you to do so.

I just finished "The Dark River" by John twelve Hawks. Its the second book of a trilogy he's writing called the Fourth Realm. The first book "The Traveler" was excellent as was the second. Its kind of his futuristic version of 1984.
Good stuff.
