They haven't lost the war in Iraq, They won the war in Iraq when they took down Saddam.

What we are doing now is policing a civil war with our Troops being caught in the middle.

1) Because it's not the US's war. It's a war between different Iraqi groups. One of them will be the winner while two of them will be the loser. The US can neither win nor lose.

2) The US is trying to end the war via the different groups peacefully sharing power in a democratic government. Out of over a 120 civil wars since the end of WWII, that's worked twice (Mozambique and South Africa). 98% of the time, civil wars are resolved by one side annihilating the other. In other words, the odds were stacked against success to begin with.

One theory: It wasn't a winnable war. Just like Vietnam wasn't winnable. If you are fighting a theory or a tactic, you will never win. You cannot win hearts and minds at gun point and with bomb blasts.

Another theory: We won the war but lost the peace. It wasn't enough to take down Saddam Hussein; we had to have something in place to keep order in the country. Since we didn't, Iraq devolved into chaos. And now our soliders are stuck in the meatgringer that is a civil war.

The war in Iraq was over very soon after it started. We are not officially in a war there, just trying to restore order. The US did win the war because Saddam and his sons were overthrown and later killed. They may lose the peacekeeping mission but they won the war. Where have you been? You need to get your facts straight.

No one has won anything.
Attacking Iraq is not new. Bill Clinton did it too.
He had a popular undeclared war. Google it.

Iran is continuing to allow the movement of weapons into Iraq. Just yesterday our forces struck a group doing just that.
The US is trying to set up border patrols yet we have limited forces. If you sign up for a volunteer service position, we are not yet into selective service mode or draft, you have to know what you are signing. Talk with family members, your butt is on the line.

Our brave soldier's will not accept defeat. Only their ears burn as we degrade each one with propaganda against this battle. SO think about who is stirring the pot further here? Please read some links. Welcome to politics. And a forced upon us early Presidential election season. Thank you.

In my opinion the US has not been defeated by Iraq. The setbacks have been huge with the government in place. They just ordered a few mil in weapons from China? Because the US could not provide them. But the casualties are down. One is more than enough. If you look back at history it is engagements that keep some groups at bay. Beyond Saddam, we got him. Extremists that will stray and one day back to US soil.

1. Guerrilla Warfare - US never was able to adapt to the rocky mountainous terrain in Iraq whereas the The Rebel Iraqi league (Or whatever you want to call it) used to literally live there.
2. Literally "NO" Local Support. The Iraqi people see US troops as "Occupier" rather than "saviors"!
3. What else would they do, the US is killing more civilians than Saddam ever did!
4. Greed for Black Gold.

Not Lost - We just haven't Won

big difference

Why have we lost it? Because the people running it have always refused to listen to reason or take evidence, fact, or reality into consideration in any of their decisions.

If that's not what you're asking, then you need to explain your question.

We won the war. We're losing the occupation because occupations are by nature near impossible when the majority of the people being occupied do not want the occupier ther, and are willing to act on it.
