He won't get a $2000 credit card by December. But if he's making $300 a week (and doesn't have a lot of household expenses), he should be able to put enough aside to finance the trip and simply use a debit card. Then, he'll only need the $500 credit card for emergencies on the trip.

I used to get into trouble regularly but now I use the system
Use several credit cards and always pay them off in full (by direct debit if you can)
You will gain about 6/7 weeks interest free loans and on some cards (M & S is an example) you get a discount from the price paid as well!

none. I had to deal with a short disaster of a marriage to an Abusive, Violent, Sociopathic Ex (Male) who spent money like he was printing it in the backyard. I walked away from everything (with just my toddlers) in order to LIVE ... so ...
I am VERY CAREFUL with my money all the time. It SCARES me to think of how much debt I had to shoulder from that disaster of a sham of a marriage.
