The main law is no. of moles before dilution=no. of moles after dilution no.of moles=molarity x volume so the steps will be 1-by applying the former law you can calculate the needed volume which will be 0.4 ml 2-so with the 1-ml pipette get 0.4 ml then putted is the flask 3-clean the flask well with distilled water only 4-after putting the 0.4 ml complete the flask with distilled water till the mark 5-the level of the solution must be concavely touching the mark tip: If you didn't understand look for this preparation method as a video on youtube "search for it"

x * 5.00 = 500 * 0.150,
so,
x = ( 500 * 0.150 ) / 5 = 15 mls
If making up 1L 1.00 M you use 200 mls stock,
If making up 500 mls 1.00 M you use 100mls stock,
If making up 500 mls 0.150M you use 0.150 * 100 mls stock = 15 mls
