Barefeet are my preference. I hate shoes so much that I have kicked them off (after work) without thinking and then had to go looking for them the next day for work. My feet MUST breathe!!!!

No, I'm not! I'm always barefoot and there is nothing wrong with it. It is NOT dangerous or gross; feet get very tough very quickly and are fully washable.
You will NOT pick up warts, athlete's foot or worms. Warts are rare in barefooters; I've had one when I still wore shoes all the time, but never had one in over ten years of barefooting. Those are picked up in damp places where lots of people go barefoot, not in stores or on sidewalks. Athlete's foot is even more a shod-folks disease; it is very uncommon in barefoot populations. And worms, well, it depends a little on where you live since there are still tropical worms & places where hygiene is still very bad, but in the US & Europe you have nothing to worry about. The only non-tropical worm that can enter through the skin, the hookworm, hasn't been a problem in the South since modern plumbing has replaced the outhouses, and never was a problem in cooler climates. Barefooting is very healthy, especially for children! So you can stop cringing at seeing barefoot children!

If a government trample on my rights, I will not be ashamed to go barefoot in a way that compromise my dignity, whether on fire as to singe my sole or long distance marathon, as long as I show to the whole world how my own democracy was violated!
But ordinarily, I'm not ashamed to go barefoot as long as doing so will not hurt my foot, of course.

Completely unashamed. As is my 2 year old daughter.
Why is going shoeless something to be ashamed of?
As I can trace the history of my family back to the coal mines of Kentucky, I love to tell my husband (when he complains about my daughter removing her shoes)
Well, you can take the girl out of the hills, but you can't take the hillbilly out of the girl... :-)

Anyone that is ashamed to be barefoot has some sort of problems. It is a natural state.

it is extremely sturdy. The metaphor of revealing your self unashamed, courageously shows great capability of spirit. The poem itself is crammed with assonance and flows with extraordinarily much appropriate meter.

I will only go barefoot in my home or outdoors.
Going barefoot in town is pretty silly because you can pick up verruca warts (plantation warts) which have to be cut out and you can also pick up worms.
I cringe when I see mums dragging children barefoot to the shops because of this.
