My kid brother's b'day is this weekend and when I asked what he wanted he said a new baseball mitt because his is to small. I went by a store and the guy there said there are 3 different kinds, a catchers, regular and first base. Ryan plays first base but is this guy trying to jerk me around? I never heard of a first basemans mitt being different. Catcher yes, first base no

Like a catcher's miitt, a first baseman's mitt doesn't have individual fingers on the outside. It is about the same size as a catcher's mitt, but it doesn't have anywhere near as much padding. Around the edge of the glove on the palm side is a bit of a ridge that functions to funnel the ball into the pocket of the glove if the ball hits the edge.

There are actually a couple of different regular gloves, depending on where you play. Infielders use a relatively short glove with a solid webbing to better pick up balls that they have to dive for. It's also easier to get the ball out of the glove to make plays. Outfielders use a glove that is relatively longer, usually with a see-through webbing. This allows them to reach fly balls better and the see-through webbing allows them to track a fly ball with the glove in front of their face.

First BASEMENTS mitt? Wow. You even call it a First Baseman's Mitt in your description. Anyway, there is a first baseman's mitt. It is wider and longer so that it is easier to catch a throw that isn't dead on without pulling the player off the bag.
