It is ten past five on the evening of the 7th October 2006. In central Moscow, Russian Journalist, Anna Politkovskaya, enters her apartment block. 5 minutes later she is dead.

Anna Politkovskaya was killed because she spoke out against injustice, because she expressed her opinions and because she didn’t obey the rules.

I was in speech and debate during my high school years and have coached speech at the high school level.

Personally, I think that it is very good.

I'd totally go with it.

Best wishes on a great speech.

And remember speak slower that you think you should because many times in competition it comes out really too fast.

It was ten minutes past five on the evening of the 7th of October 2006 in Central Moscow, when Journalist, Anna Politkovskaya entered the block where her apartment was located. Just 5 minutes later she was dead.

Great opening..... I'm interested and I don't even know who Anna Politkovskaya was!

Keep up the good work! Just remember to stick with either present or past tense and stay with it!
