As a life long Cubs fan who remembers when the game was still a game, I can tell you that I never really cared much for Sosa. Yes, the Sosa McGwire home run race of 98 was interesting, but even as a Cubs fan, I become sick of Sammy's little tap, tap, kiss, kiss mugging and his selfish attitude very quickly. There are 2 incidents that sum up Sosa's career the best for me. The fact that he asked not to play in his last game as a Cub, and then left the park well before the game was over proves to me that he didn't really care one bit about his teamates or his fans. In any other profession, that would be considered unbelievably selfish to walk out like that. The other incident was the corked bat fiasco. So many of his actions in that case were wrong that I can't even tell them all, so I'll keep it to a few. The most unbelievable thing about that was that he somehow managed to give a phone interview to ESPN before the game was even over. he was more concerned about his "image" then the fact that he had just been caught cheating. Then he spins this ridiculous story about it being a "batting practice bat". I was always under the assumption that batting practice was used to get ready for a game, not to put on a show for the fans. (who, incidently, are not even in Wrigley when the Cubs take BP)
These 2 incidents (and there are many others) only go to prove that Sosa was more concerned about his own statistics and getting as much personal glory as he could then he ever was about his team, the fans, or the game itself.

I think most Cub fans suspect that he probably had some sort of "performance enhancement" during his prime years with the the team. Also the ending of his time in Chicago, was a little ugly. You don't see many Sosa jerseys around town, but you still see some Mark Grace jerseys from the same era.

Tho not a true Cub fan, i dislike the guy .
The only reason that they signed him was to put fans in the stands.

He was a selfish bum when he was with the White Sox and just got worse.

Good riddance to the corked bat steroid user. And they give Barry Bonds all the bs making it look like he is the only one, HA!!!

Like most baseball fans I guess, a chemically enhanced ballplayer who gave the Cubs fans thrills and spills for years but couldn't bring them a championship.

Baseball was indeed, "Berry Berry good to him"!
