Ur question..home pregnancy test will detect ectopic? It will tell if you are pregnant. To detect if u r having an ectopic or a normal pregnancy, its not possible at home as you've asked.U will need a transvaginal scan and blood tests...to confirm an ectopic pregnancy. But yes you will still get a positive pregnancy test at home.

An ectopic pregnancy or a "regular" pregnancy cause the same hormonal changes in your body; therefore, a home pregnancy test will tell you if you are pregnant or not.

But, in order to determine if a pregnancy is ectopic, you will need to see a doctor.

Yes it will, but only an ultrasound can tell you it ectopic. The pregnancy test will pick up the hormone, its one of the first things doctor's when there's a potential ectopic pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, your hormones will be different, and the pregnancy test reacts to them in urine, so yes, it should detect it. Whether it is ectopic or not, ask your doc, or wait for the godawful pain.
