Probably. I love those who's answers talk about his range and skill... He was not history's best technical singer, by far. Many other singers have had better range. I'm not saying he was not good, but he was not the be-all and end-all that so many consider him to be. The Beatles, for example, have had far more impact on popular music than Elvis did.

No because Elvis was an entertainer not a singer!

I wonder what over rated means really. What is the basis of the start of the rating, and what or how much is the rate? Of course people are free to start the rate where ever they like in what ever way they like.

So I don't really see how the rate of over can exist.

No. Although I'm far from being a fan, I believe he had talent. Overrated are most of the so-called "pop stars" of today like Britney Spears who would be nothing if not helped by sound engineers and advertisers.

I don't think so. He had a style of presentation that was so emotional, and honest, that he deserves the honor bestowed on him. I believe he just wanted to get away from the superficiality of show business. He was simply tired. It seems when one becomes famous, enormous demands are made of them to continue to produce, bigger, and better. He had a really deep spiritual recognition of life. There is not one song, he sang or wrote, that did not exhibit his deep spiritual essence/

Yes and no. I think people need to get over that he is dead but he really did a lot to open doors for rock n roll and he could sing rather you liked his music or not.

People I think are overrated are groups like papa roach and britnay and who is that really skiny white girl that is sluty? Oh well.

I like Elivs don't get me wrong but one of the funniest bumber stickers I've seen said

Yikes! I ran over Elives! Whoops not i didn't he is already DEAD!

I know bad humor but I thought it was funny.

i would partially agree with that statement

he was an okay singer, an okay guitarist, an okay actor, an okay soldier, an okay writer, and an okay dancer

but he was then and now blown up to be like a musical genius

he used riffs and songs and ideas from many musical genres (like the Beatles, but without their talent for making them into completely new things), but many other people did rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, and gospel, far better than he did
