I need to know if it's as bad as everyone says it is. I want your experience and what chapter you filed.

Thanks. I just want to be debt free. I dont even care about my credit anymore. I have a car loan. I'll just keep it and still pay it and that 'll keep my credit going good right?

You might want to do some research, before you make any big decisions....talk to an accountant or some one at the bank...

I filed Chapter 11 and it was good that I no longer had the stress of all those bills however, your credit is bad for up to 10 years after filing. It sucked not being able to get anything. Everytime I tried to get credit I was either denied or the interest rate was really high.

I had to file bankruptcy because of my husband's (ex now) drug addiction!

Filing bankruptcy should not be a good experience. You made agreements with your creditors to repay them and now you are going back on your word. Rightfully, it should be bad.

If you are considering bankruptcy, you should see a bankruptcy attorney. The rules have changed and you may not even qualify or you may only be able to go Chapter 13 which is repayment.

We'd all like to be debt free but going bankrupt is not the answer.

Wow, you can actually wash yourself free of debt? Didn't know that was possible...frankly, I don't think it is...you will never get credit again in your lifetime I'm sure, and likely neither will your kids.
