Is there any proof, and do they actually exist?

There might well be.

However people disagree on the 'evidence'.

The two slit experiment, which I can't fully describe here seems to show that a single photon can do things impossible for a single photon and interfere with itself. Some quantum theorists say that what is interfering with are photons in parallel (actually perpendicular as they'd branch off from our own) universes.

If we build a working quantum computer it may be able to perform computations that would be impossible on any classical machine - David Deutsch has made the challenge of solving where the equation happened if it used more resources than can be seen to exist in our universe - other universes is his answer.

To learn more about this I recommend his book 'The Fabric of Reality' and as a primer in to quantum mysteries, Gribbin's excellent 'In Search of Schrödinger's Cat'

There's no way to say for sure, the universe is such a big place and so vast that it almost hurts most people to actually think about hte idea of how much we don't know. If you figure there is no end that could be able to be understood to the universe then you would have to assume that there has to be parallel universes or maybe a better way to put it is parallel times.

If there was a way to prove that the universe actually ends at some point then you would have a easy way to prove that there are other universes.

Sadly at this point in time humans aren't smart enough to really fully understand and figure out just what the universe is, where it ends or if it does or where it even exists.

If you consider that the universe actually exists somewhere then you have to figure there's something bigger then that even.

Anyway... that's atleast a drawn out form of the answer I could figure to give.

Basicly no one knows.

All theoretical predictions (interpretations) of parallel universes in physics also predict that they are principally unobservable. As such, these "ghost solutions" are nothing to be concerned about much. There is no formal requirement on a scientific theory that it has to be able to produce ONLY solutions that have a physical realization. Actually, all theories I know produce plenty of non-physical solutions (often enough for no other reasons than the trivial algebraic fact that x^2=1 has two solutions: x=1 and x=-1). Parallel universes are just that: non-physical solutions of some mathematical aspect of a theory.

If somebody wants to waste their time speculating or writing pseudo-science books about these things, we can't stop them. That does not make the whole notion any more important to real science.

Yes. Just discovered mathematically. Go to - breitbart.com and type in parallel universes in the search box. There is an article ---- Parallel universes exist -study dated Sept 23.

According to Einstein.. there are parallel universes..

It's a word/universe similar to ours.. just difficult to get to --

go to HowStuffWorks.com and check out "How time travel works"

--in this article it states to get to a parallel universe one would have to have the ability to travel at the speed of light..
which means: if you want to get there, and be ALIVE to see and understand it, you have to be able to travel FAST... because it could take many many light years to reach =)

This is actually an interesting topic.. you should do a little research =)

Probably half the worlds physicists believe in the "many worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics. Personally I think they are idiots but mentally, compared to them, I'm the idiot. Like most people I am totally unequipped to understand the mathematics of quantum mechanics. Still, without any knowledge to back me up, I refuse to believe that every choice that I make generates a new universe. That has to be crazy.

there is actually NO evidence at all to suggest parallel universes, except some people saying they see their exact doubles, apparently travel ling from a parallel universe, but they are often dismissed as insane. oh, and just to clear up, someone said 'what is at the end on a black hole?'-nothing. its just a collapsed star. you just get all squished and compressed. nothing happens. just the squishing.

Your answer is as good as any. There is no proof and no way to prove it either. same with what is at the other end of a black hole. Your guess is as good as any.
