It's so common that a person almost seems negligent if they only use one question mark or exclamation mark. It's as if the single punctuation is obsolete and meaningless.
And what is the equivalent, vocalized version of five question marks? Do you ask the question louder and with exaggerated, distorted facial experssions? And with five exclamation marks, would you read the sentence out loud by screaming at 109 decibels?
Thanks for your help in this matter !!!!!

As an editor, I usually delete exclamation points as unnecessary and overly emotional, and I ALWAYS delete multiple exclamation points.

Exclamation marks may be repeated for additional emphasis ("That's great!!!"), but this practice is generally considered unacceptable in formal composition.

Multiple Question Marks

It seems to me when I use such incorrect grammatical punctuations, I'm trying to "voice" out my opinion since text is hard to understand the person's intentions. If I am using multiple question marks, it means I am really confused. Overly exaggerated supposedly. Same goes for multiple exclamation marks. I'm trying to "shout" my statement since one exclamation mark doesn't seem enough to express my feelings/emotions. It's all for a purpose; nothing is done without one.

This has everything to do with communication without the aid of body language or facial expression. People started using this technique a long time ago with handwritten letters. And email or text messages don't even have the ability to inflect emotion into how you write something, so it's even harder to read into the emotional content. This is why multiple punctuation marks are needed...it's really quite simple!!!!

They use them for emphasis. For example, they might use multiple exclamation points to emphasize that they are really really excited or angry. They might use multiple question marks to indicate that they are extremely confused about something. Not sure if you did it on purpose, but did you realize that you used multiple exclamation points in the last sentence of your question?

to me as an Admin for a fb group, seeing double question marks is annoying, as, to me, the person is being more demanding, and annoying
