I followed all the instructions on the big sheet that comes with it, uninstalled and reinstalled it, rebooted the hard drive, bought a new USB cable in case the problem rested with the old one, and when I try to print with it, I keep getting an error message saying basically the computer and printer can't talk to each other, to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. Did that, no dice. I plugged the printer directly into a wall socket instead of a power bar, no difference. I do know there is a problem in device manager, where there is no USB printing support. I tried updating the driver for that and Windows won't update it, it says it's the best one available. I'm using XP Home and Lexmark is supported by XP.

I tried Lexmark tech support, they couldn't help me.

This is driving me crazy. How do I get USB printing support?

Hi. The printer would have come with an installation CD. It is important that the CD be run before the printer is connected. Uninstall the printer, then load the driver from the CD, then follow the directions. The default printer driver from Windows has a hard time with USB printers. Good luck!
