Well, when my daughter was first born I could get formula for $18.00, now they are wanting $25.00 for the same stuff in a smaller can.

of course it has, that's the way inflation works. You can try generic formula (Target's brand is exactly the same as Enfamil and only costs about $12). You can also check out websites like craigslist and ebay to get cheaper stuff. I haven't bought a single brand new item for my son - why pay sucker price? Seriously - I was at Gymboree adn they wanted $27 for a shirt! I won't even spend that much on myself!

You've noticed that gas prices and shipping have gone up right? It affects EVERYTHING. Formula is still cows milk and the energy costs for dairy cows has gone up tremendously. Not to mention that the sizes of the herds are shrinking as farmers retire and sell their farms to land developers. I expect milk prices to go up 50% again within 5 years due to that. Children's clothing is usually made in Asia or China and then shipped here. All that shipping costs more.

Our garage sale season appears like it will be extended another month due to the unseasonably warm weater. Be sure to take advantage of it and buy some of your clothing used!

yep, it's ridiculous isn't it. People are so greedy these days. There is no need for this stuff to be as high as it is, I mean, lower income families can't afford this must have stuff. Can you believe the price of diapers? ten bucks for something that doesn't last a week. I nursed my babies, I shop at goodwill and garage sales and love to accept hand me downs. My kids look pretty good in that stuff and it's a blessing that we can still get by cheap. I thank God that he provides everything we need or we couldn't make it in the pricy world today.

I SO understand... now try going back 11 years! When I got stuff for my daughter, I thought it was bad. Now that I am expecting number 2 11 years later, I am amazed that it has literally gone up about 5 times - and that is for EVERYTHING. Cribs, strollers, swings, clothes, diapers, formula...it's ridiculous. I have found resale shops to be my best friend.

i have a 3 week old son..and thank GOD for my brother having a 2 year old boy...he gave me all his old clothes taht hedoesnt fit into anymore...and some old toys and even his strollers.. it has been the biggest blessing!!! Of course we got new things at our own shower, but my brother & sis in law are expecting another son in January, and i will be sure to return the clothes and things when my son grows out of them.. the price of baby clothes is ridiculous!!! I dont even spend that much on my own outfits !!!

it sucks about formula prices though..im breastfeeding as long as i can not only for the health of my baby, but to save big bucks on formula.. mines free!!!! :)

I saved money by breastfeeding, cloth diapering and accepting hand-me downs for everything but the car seat. Babies don't have to be as expensive as we make them out to be. If the formula is too expensive for you to afford, you may qualify for WIC if you live in the US.

Save money by buying generic - formula, diapers, wipes. It really adds up buying the name brand stuff.

Also buy clothes on sale.

Any big items you need such as strollers, exersaucer - buy them online. Only go to store if you have a special coupon. Never ever, pay full price!
