Why is it so important to run several of test on a sample to determine what a mineral is??

Because using just one or two properties is not definitive. Lots of minerals might be purple, or a 4 on the Mohs, or have similar specific gravities. You have to look at all of the properties you can to define the mineral.

Alot of minerals are compounds, running a test several times, insures that no contaminants or the like creep in and disrupt the data that you get.
