why did jack on the titanic stand on the edge of the boat and say "im the king of the world!"?
why did harry potter put his hands up when he rode buckbeak?
why do people put thier hands up on rollercoasters?
all for the same reason. it makes you feel like you are flying (in harry's case he was) and it is a much more thrilling experience. You have less control of your body due to the greater g force ( zero gravity) being experienced.

I think there are a couple of reasons for this. You put your hands up to show that you aren't scared but the main reason is so you can raise up in the seat and have a better g force experience. As you come to the top of a hill and start going down and have your hands up you will raise up and feel like you are going to fly out until the belt catches you. It is really fun.

I don't. I cling on as though my life depends on it. You wouldn't even persuade me to go on some of the roller coasters. Far too frightening!

Well I wouldn't know because I'm always too scared to lift up my hands, I feel like I'll fall out. I'm just too busy gripping the bars. lol

i think that its a sign that u r brave and its fun to feel the air rush against your skin!!
By the way try it on the Pepsi max at Blackpool , I did it although i was scared to death!

You do that so your butt lifts off the seat on the down slopes. Feels like you're floating.
