Hi all,
I went for my 2nd ultrasound scan on monday.. and my baby is absolutely fine :)
I was really worried that i would have miscarried without knowing or something.
It was hiding very well so we couldnt tell the sex.. till about 3 seconds before the end when he turned and revealed he was a boy! im very pleased about this :)
I asked her how much it would weigh.. and i remember her saying "2" but i cant remember which unit it was. My mum said it may have been kilo's but that would mean my baby is 4lb 6 and isnt that a bit big considering i was only 21 weeks at my scan ? Im coming up 22 now, and i would like to know does any1 know which unit of weight she might have said? Im concerned as if she said 2 kilos im worried the weight will double over the next 20 weeks. Im only 5 ft something and naturally skinny as ever and i have a bmi of 17.5 and was told my baby would be early. im very curious to know how much he weighs. I cant think of whether it was kilos or not.

I don't know, because at 20 weeks, my son weighed 12 ounces and was right on schedule. I think it is a safe bet that he does not weigh 4lbs already, they usually put on significant weight during the last few weeks. Mine only weighed 2 lbs at 28 weeks, and weighed 8 lbs at birth.

According to babycenter.com, a 21-week-old fetus weighs approximately 3/4 of one pound, which converts to approximately 1/3 of one kg. There's no way your baby weighs 4lbs or more at this point! At your next prenatal visit, be sure to ask the doctor exactly how much she thinks the baby weighs. Good luck and congratulations on your little boy!

I'm in the US and just had my 2nd daughter. At 21weeks she weighed 2 lbs 6 oz. I am only 5 foot 3 and weigh 175. I am also vegitarian. Now I also have hip displacia which makes it harder to spread and open... And even with those set backs and her weight she arrived on time perfectly healthy weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and it only took me 3 pushes to get her out. It just goes to show doctors don't know everything and labor and delivery is always different.

he is around 1/2 kilo more or less
congratulations

im from america, so we go by pounds and ounces, and even if your baby did weigh 4lbs. and by chance doubled weight in the next 20 weeks, he would weigh roughly around 8lbs. which is completely normal sized baby!

babies grow at different rates, so its really hard to say.

That can't be at only 21 weeks! =)

I had my 2nd ultrasound at 19 weeks and he was 12 ounces and right where he was supposed to be! =)

Different sources vary in their information, but they're very close to the same. =)
