I have PCOS and have a healthy beautiful 8 month old baby girl.
This is kind of how my doctor explained it to me. Women with PCOS have their hormones all out of wack. PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, of course you knew that but the main thing is the cysts on your ovaries. So he told me that when we are supposed to ovulate, we don't make enough of the hormone that matures the egg and allows it to break through the wall of the ovary. We get just enough hormone to stimulate a few eggs to start maturing but then the hormone drops...makes us have a period a couple of weeks later. But since the egg or eggs never matured completely, it becomes a cyst on your ovary. This continues happening...making it harder and harder to get pregnant.
I was put on Metformin since I am insulin resistant as a symptom of PCOS. I've had 2 pregnancies, the first ended at 10 weeks. My second pregnancy went by with no problems until the very end which had nothing to do with PCOS...I had a small leak in my amniotic sac, so fluid got infected.
Do a lot of research on PCOS then talk to your doctor about your options. That's what I did and I am the mother I've always wanted to be. GOOD LUCK!

I have PCOS and have a regular period every month. You can still get a period without ovulating. The best way to know is use OPK's and chart. I do this and I know I ovulate, but I still haven't gotten pregnant. I am now on Metformin and Clomid, so I am hoping that will help. I totally know where you are coming from though!

May be the eggs isn't getting fertilize at the right time, you should be ovulating if you have a reguler cycle but every woman is different you might not be ovulating every month, healthy ladies doesn't all ways ovulate every month, I to hae pcos but dont have a reguler cycle, but since you have pcos let your dr perscribe some meds for you like clomid what would induce ovulation, not because u have a reguler period means you'll ovulate

Just because you are getting your period every month does not mean that you are ovulating. I asked my doctor about that because I was getting my period and I have PCOS so I thought that things were normal again but according to him I can get my period but not ovulate. Something about the lining of the uterus can still shed without an egg being released.

I have PCOS and I get a period every month, but I don't ovulate every month. It's called anovulatory cycles. I've noticed that if I do not ovulate, I have a short, light period. If I do ovulate that month, I will have a longer, heavier period. It's strange.
It's a common misunderstanding that having a period automatically equals ovulation. It doesn't necessarily.

Enjoying the feeling of motherhood and raising a family would surely be a couple’s dream. Some get it naturally, while for some others things don’t seem to work as they desire. These reasons which stop a women from conceiving can be due to either physical reasons or truly physiological.
