When adding or subtracting, you need to have the same denominator. It should be the smallest number that they both divide into evenly.
6/5 + 8/9
(9/9)(6/5) +(5/5)(8/9)
54/45 + 40/45
94/45
2 4/45
When multiplying, multiply the numerators together and the denominators together.
(6/5)(8/9)
(6*8)/(5*9)
48/45
1 3/45
1 1/15
When dividing, you flip the diving number upside down and multiply.
(6/5)/(8/9)
(6/5)(9/8)
(6*9)/(5*8)
54/40
1 14/40
1 7/20

If you are adding or subtracting, you need to find a common denominator and convert them into equivalent fractions.
Find the LCM of 5 and 9
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45
9, 18, 27, 36, 45
6/5 = 54/45
8/9 = 40/45
54/45+40/45 = 94/45 = 2 & 4/45
To multiply fractions, you simply multiply the numerators and the denominators. You do not need to change them at all
6/5*8/9 = (6*8)/(5*9) = 48/45 = 1 & 3/45 = 1 & 1/15

If you are adding or subtracting fractions, then you would want to find the least common denominator of the two before adding or subtracting them. For example, the LCD of 5 and 9 is 45, so for your example, you would have:
6/5 + 8/9
= 54/45 + 40/45
= 94/45, or 2 4/45.
For multiplying fractions, you just multiply the numerators and denominators together. Again, using your example:
6/5 * 8/9 = 48/45, or 1 1/15.

for adding or subtracting you find the lowest number that the denominators both go into so if the numbers are 6/5+8/9 you would fine the lowest common number which is 45 then you multiply the numerator by what ever you multiplied the denominator by so the equation would become 54/45+40/45=94/45 then you would put it in simplest form.
for multiplying you multiply the numerator by the other numerator and the denominator by the other denominator then put the answer of the numerators as the numerator and the answer of the denominators as the denominators
hope you get it now

To add or subtract fractions you'll need to find the "common denominator". The easiest way to find that is to multiply the two denominators together. NOTE: this will NOT always give you the "lowest common denominator"
In you example 5*9 = 45. This is your common denominator. Now to make your fractions the equal with the new denominator you need to cross multiply. 6*9 =54 and 8*5=40 so now your equation is: 54/45 + 40/45
To multiply, you just multiply the two numerators and the two denominators: 6*8=48, 5*9=45 so you 6/5 * 8/9 = 48/45

FInd a commo denomenator when adding and subtracting
and remember what you do to the bottom of a fraction you must do to the top, so
5 and 9 are denomenators and they both go into 45
5*9 = 45
so you must multiply 6/5 by 9/9 = 54/45
and multiply 8/9 by 5/5 = 40/45
now add 54/45 + 40/45 = 94/45
(note that if you are multipying two fractions you do not need to find a common denomenator, just multiply the the top by the top and the bottom by the bottom, then simplify if possible)

6/5 + 8/9
54/45 + 40/45
94/45
2 4/45
