I'm thinking about getting it done and was supposed to have had an evaluation backin Aug, but they told me I couldn't wear contacts for 14 days prior to the eval, and I had juuuuust broken my glasses. (didn't see much point in buying new glasses if I was going to get the surgery.) Is the healing time long? Can you really see 20/20 with the surgery? Is their much pain?

hi, VA girl, i recommend lasik when ever asked. there was no down time except the day of surgery. the next morning when you're able to see the alarm clock w/o glasses! wow! you'll feel set free. no pain for me, only a little sensitivity to light and star-burst effect at night. both went away after about 6 months. not all results the same. be sure you have an experienced, reputable doctor. good luck!

nope.
that's why I can't see a darned thing ...
except when I'm wearing my contacts or glasses. :O)
I know some people who've had it, they said it helps but eventually one of the people's eyes started going bad again, and another person had some complications from it ...
So, despite the fact that I would LOVE to be able to see without corrective lenses, I personally don't think I'd have that surgery ...
but I've heard that it works wonders for some people.
I guess it's just a chance you have to take.
I hope it goes well for you, if you decide to get it - good luck!

:O)

No, but I'm thinking about having it sometime in the future! I just hope it doesn't hurt! When I see it get done on TV, the people don't look like they're in any pain! They just have to wear those eye shields to protect their eyes from too much light!

^ I'm with her. I'd love to not have to wear contacts/glasses all the time.

Maybe this site will help you. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
